Wheelchair Project – PCR006/FSG

The project started in 2016, during a visit by the Foundation's patron to the Maputo Central Hospital, where he came across a sad scenario - two girls were carrying their grandmother on their backs for another routine consultation, and while he was there, he came across numerous similar situations.

Faced with this scenario, he decided to put in practice his spirit of solidarity by donating wheelchairs to people with mobility problems inside and outside the hospital. Preventing them having to be carried on the backs of their family members whenever they needed to move around. So the project was developed, with the aim to offer wheelchairs to people with special needs, since wheelchairs are of great importance to them, as well as to the daily lives of their relatives.

The chairs are delivered to institutions such as hospitals and charitable centres for the daily use of the physically disabled and some patients in delicate condition. Individuals, who were born with some form of motor disability, are also offered the chairs in order to motivate them to gain autonomy.
