Orphan House Project – PCO002/FSG

According to Unicef, an orphan is defined as a child who has lost one or both parents. This scenario often leaves children in a vulnerable situation regarding guardianship, shelter, among other factors. 

The Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique defends the rights of children to the protection of the family, society and the State, with a view to their integral development and access to the care necessary for their well-being, opinion, participation in matters that affect them. concern, depending on their age and maturity.

PNAC II is based on the principles and rights established in the Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique, in the Law on the Promotion and Protection of Children's Rights (Law 7/2008 of 9 July) and other legislation in force in the country, as well as in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child, the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) and the Declaration “One World for Children”, the Plan of Action on “An Africa Fit for Children” and the Millennium Development Goals and other child protection instruments. 1800's, children.

Given the high number of children in vulnerable situations, and the growing awareness and understanding of the need to protect children, the Sérgio Gago-FSG Foundation designed the Casa do Órfão project whose objective is to support orphaned Mozambican children without housing, through the construction of a shelter.
