Solidarity Tent Project – PTS011/FSG

Currently, the climate changes have been proving to be one of the biggest engines for serious natural disasters. The natural disasters are phenomena which occur due to the changes in temperature and annual changes in the weather seasons.

During these oscillations, one of the most disastrous phenomena are severe rains and cyclones. Mozambique has a long coastal line an is thus geographically vulnerable to suffer frequently scenarios of natural devastation which is increased by the poor condition of the housing of the communities which reside in these vulnerable areas.

Faced with this situation, the Sérgio Gago Foundation – FSG has decided to support the National Institute for the Management of Natural Disasters (INGC) by donating three tents to the families who are affected by these disasters. Having realizes that there is a bigger need for support for the population who is victim of natural disasters the FSG took the decision to create a project called the Solidarity Tent with the goal to support the citizens of Mozambique in exercising their spirit of solidarity towards the persons who are victims of natural disasters.

The support is delivered to the beneficiaries in coordination with the INGC, the institution who supervises this action, so that it fulfils the requirements and strategies of the government of Mozambique. The tents are accompanied by other necessary materials based on the needs of the beneficiaries and their characteristics comply with the quality standards demanded by the INGC. Given the vulnerability of the populations because of their geographical localization, the period for the implementation of this project is undetermined, depending on the occurrence of a natural disaster phenomena that will destroy housing leaving the population homeless.
